Weather
Rain stops roofers, not scaffold. If your roof will be open for more than a day or two, a temporary roof keeps the house dry.
On the pavement or road?
A scaffold on a public pavement or road needs a licence from the council's highways team, and councils ask for notice, so tell us early. We'll say at the quote whether you need one, and we apply for it for you.
Keeping it secure
A scaffold can make upstairs windows easier to reach, so keep them locked while it's up. We take down or lock off the access ladders at the end of each working day.

For a full re-roof, yes. Stripping and re-covering a roof means working at the edge for days, and a scaffold with guard rails is the safe way to do it. Small repairs can sometimes be reached another way, and Danny will tell you if you don't need a full scaffold.
The working platform sits just below the eaves, with guard rails above it at the roof edge. The roofer can step onto the roof, and nothing can fall past the edge.
Only if it's built for it. Tiles are heavy, so if materials are going on the platform we plan for it at the quote, with brick guards and a loading bay if the job needs them.
As long as the roof takes. Weather decides most of that, so we agree a hire period up front and extend it if the job runs over.
The scaffold is fine in the rain, but an open roof isn't. If your roof will be off for more than a day or two, ask about a temporary roof over the top.
